Knowing that You’re Not Alone

Since I was diagnosed with Autism, I’ve had my share of challenges and battles during my childhood but I’ve battled my way through those obstacles and challenges with the support of my family. My parents Jerry and Chyrl Willis have been the best parents that I couldn’t have asked for when I got adopted in Germany after I was born. They’ve sacrificed a lot for me when I was a kid because they wanted the best for me and they want me to be happy in life. Life has its challenges, triumphs, obstacles, and blessings. My parents and I went through all of that when I was a kid because I’ve had a lot of people doubting me including the doctors that diagnosed me, they told my parents that I wouldn’t be able to drive or even do the things I’m doing now in my life but I’ve proved them wrong. I’ve been driving for four years since March of 2009, I’ve also been spreading autism awareness and acceptance in my community, and I have accomplished a lot of things in my life. I would like to encourage the parents of kids that have autism or have been recently been diagnosed with autism to not give up because your kids have a lot to offer in society and in the world, I also encouraged the parents to continue to take your children out in public more because they can learn things from the real world and learn a lot of things that they can gain when they’re adults. You’re not alone because there are families that go through the same challenges too and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. We deserved to give our children to best of the best in life and love them unconditionally no matter what how different they are from everyone else. If anyone tries to judge your child, proved them wrong and fight with all your heart and strength, they deserve to have a life just like we do. I’ve come a long way from the day I was diagnosed to where I am today, I’m grateful for the support I get from my family including my parents because they’ve sacrificed so much for me and for that I’m so thankful along with the feeling of gratefulness and appreciation.
